Asante Kotoko transfer ban lifted

The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association have overturned an earlier ban placed on Asante Kotoko to not sign players for the next one year by the Players Status Committee.

The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) released decisions on cases concerning Asante Kotoko SC and four of its former players, Abass Mohammed, Mathew Kelvin Andoh, Stephen Tetteh Ayiku and Evans Owusu.

It will be recalled that the quartet petitioned the Players Status Committee on the Club’s unilateral termination of their contracts and won at the Player Status Committee level, which resulted in Asante Kotoko SC being asked to pay the outstanding salaries, signing on fee of the players as well as suffer a one year transfer window ban.

Asante Kotoko SC being dissatisfied with the decision on the four players given by the Players’ Status Committee (PSC), appealed against the decisions at the Appeals Committee.

In the instant decisions of the Appeals Committee, the transfer ban has been overturned but the payment of outstanding salaries and signing on fees for the four players were upheld.

This means Asante Kotoko can now beef up their squad in the second transfer window which is currently open.
