Ghana forward Sandra Owusu-Ansah has been nominated for the FIFA Puskas award for her wonder goal in the Women’s Premier League last season.
The nominees for the prestigious award was announced on Monday, with Owusu-Ansah’s goal deservedly among the 11 chosen by FIFA.
She is the only Ghanaian on the list but not the only African because Algerian captain Riyad Mahrez is nominated.
Owusu-Ansah scored the goal on May 8 2021 in the match between Supreme Ladies and Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies.
The 21-year-old, who now plays in Serbia for ZFK Spartak Subotica, volleyed the ball straight into the net from long range.
The winner will be selected by an international jury comprising a panel of FIFA Legends and registered fans from all over the world on FIFA.com.
Each of the two groups of voters within the jury has the same electoral weight. The voting and award process related to the FIFA Puskás Award is detailed in the respective Rules of Allocation.
