Managements of BCM Group, a mining contracting company has announced the company’s preparedness to prosecute senior officers found culpable ofembezzlingfunds of the company.
According to them, the company was conducting a full scale audit to review operations on workers entrusted with financial responsibility within the organisation and would not hesitate to crack the whip when an officer is found guilty of the said crime. This was disclosed in a statement issued in Accra yesterday by the Head of Corporate Affairs of the company.
“We are in the process of conducting a full-scale audit and review of operations, with a view to establishing the culprits, improving our service delivery and streamlining our activities. Where appropriate the group will institute criminal complaints against the culprits,” it explained.
For several months, the statement said the group has noted with grave concern the discovery of incidents of gross mismanagement, possible diversion and embezzlement of funds, by senior officers, hence the action taken.
It assured that the internal audit and review would not in any way affect their operations, thus would continue to serve the public while rolling out the necessary measures to enhance the activities of the company.
“In the interim the Board and Management wish to assure its various partners, and the general public, that BCM which has served in West Africa for over 25 years continues to be one of the leading mining and civil contractors in Sub-Saharan Africa; the current internal investigations will shortly be concluded and do not in any way affect the running of its various operations,” the statement added.
It expressed management’s commitment in clarifying all the doubts the issue has created in the media space and urged concerned individuals and organisations to contact the company for clarification.
