Red-hot Antoine Semenyo set for transfer to EPL side

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo is set to complete a transfer to English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth after his Championship team Bristol City agreed a fee with the Cherries.

After rejecting two offers for the in-form Black Stars striker last week, Bristol have now accepted a reported figure of around £9million plus bonuses

The 23-year-old and his agent are now heading to Bournemouth to complete a medical, before looking to complete the transfer by signing his contract.

Bristol City coach Nigel Pearson confirmed the proposed transfer in an interview with BBC Radio Bristol: “As we stand at the moment, Antoine is in discussions with Bournemouth.

“I can confirm that. But the driver of those types of situations are two clubs agreeing a fee. That’s happened now. The club at some point will disclose what that is, but not today. He’s been given permission to speak to the club and obviously there would be an opportunity for a medical etcetera. So that’s where we are with that.

“No real further comments on at the moment. The most important factor to recognise at the moment is a fee has been agreed between the two clubs, so now there are other factors to wait to see how they go. One being a medical and one being agreeing personal terms.”

After a group-stage exit from the 2023 FIFA World Cup with Ghana, Semenyo has scored in all four of Bristol’s Championship matches this year. He had scored two goals in his previous 19 matches this season.

Born in England, Semenyo is of Ghanaian descent. He debuted for the Ghana national team in a 3–0 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification win over Madagascar on 1 June 2022. Semenyo was included in Ghana’s 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
