The La Nkwantanang District Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, Mr Daniel Afari Boateng, has asked parents to teach children how to use digital technologies in the early stages of their lives to enhance their creativity.

He explained that digital technologies provided more outlets for preschoolers to demonstrate their creativity.

Mr Boateng, who was speaking at the second graduation ceremony of the Pentecost School at Madina, said introducing children to technology at a young age could be helpful to their development.

The event was on the theme: “Technology in preschool education: The new frontier.”

Additionally, Mr Boateng said, technology could be utilised to enhance access to learning opportunities for all children.

“For instance, while children already have access to information in books, technology can allow them to access more materials and ask questions from individuals outside the classroom,” he said.

He urged parents to learn how to use technology, so they could assist their children with their schoolwork.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Bernard Ofosu Yeboah, emphasised the need for technology in the education of children, saying it was for that reason that the school would refurbish and open its computer laboratory this year.

“By opening the computer laboratory, teaching and learning will be made easier. Pupils and students will be able to relate easily to whatever they are taught in the classroom,” he said.

Mr Yeboah stressed the need for teachers and students to make good use of the facility and also exhibit a good maintenance culture, so that others would benefit from it later.

A total of 92 preschoolers graduated to continue their basic school education. Certificates were presented to the pupils and the outstanding ones were rewarded.
