Michael Amoo-Bediako, manager of Richard Commey, has described his fighter’s upcoming WBC Super lightweight championship eliminator against Jose Ramirez on March 25 as career-defining bout which has the potential of determining the future of his boxer.

Mr Amoo-Bediako, th CEO of Streetwise Management, explained that Commey was working tirelessly to return to winning ways, having failed to win in his last two bouts against Vasyl Lomachenko and Jose Pedraza.

The Ghanaian fighter would make his second outing at 140 pounds following a split draw with Pedraza in his debut fight at the division on August 27, 2022.

“This is going to be a career-defining moment for Richard and he is not taking it for granted,” Mr Amoo-Bediako told the Graphic Sports.
“We know the magnitude of this fight and Richard is working hard to ensure he come out victorious because it has the potential of determining his future.”

Commey (30-4-1, 27 KOs) has won one of his last four bouts with two defeats and a draw — a record which makes his opponent Ramirez the favourite going into the bout.

The 35-year-old former International Boxing Federation (IBF) lightweight champion is looking forward to land a title shot at the WBC Super Lightweight championship with a win over Ramirez.

Meanwhile, Ramirez (27-1, 17 KOs) will be looking to secure a second consecutive win on March 25 after losing an opportunity to become the undisputed super lightweight titlist against Josh Taylor in March 2021.

Ramirez forced a unanimous decision victory over Jose Pedraza after the defeat to Taylor and is hoping to beat Commey to land a shot at the WBC belt.
