We will demonstrate if Piesie Esther doesn’t win Gospel Song of the Year -Celestine Donkor’s manager

Kofi Donkor, the husband cum manager of gospel singer, Celestine Donkor says he will garner support to demonstrate against Charterhouse, organisers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) if Piesie Esther doesn’t win the Gospel Song of the Year award this year.

Earlier today, March 18, Charterhouse unveiled the nominations list for this year’s event with the exception of the “Big five” –Best New Artiste, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year and Artiste of the Year- which was slated later for the evening at the Grand Arena of Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

The Gospel Song of the Year category had Celestine Donkor, Piesie Esther, Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Perez Musik, Bethel Revival Ministries, Ewurabena and MOG Music.

Interestingly, Kofi Donkor has started campaigning for Piesie Esther against his wife.

“Please give it to Piesie Esther otherwise, we will demonstrate big time!!

“Let me congratulate Ewura Abena and Perez Musik. They have really done well for themselves,” he posted.

He also charged players in the Gospel Music industry to prepare themselves to celebrate another Artiste of the Year win after Joe Mettle and Diana Hamilton, who won it in 2021.

“Ha! Name 3 major gospel event in year under review that Piesie Esther was not billed? Chai! Gospel people let’s prepare to crown our 3rd overall Artist of the year”, another post read.

Categories for this year’s VGMA include Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Gospel Song of the Year, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Afrobeats Song of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, Rapper of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

The 24th VGMAs will be held on Saturday, May 13 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

Already, Black Sherif has been tipped as a likely candidate to win Artiste of the Year with works such as Kweku The Traveller making global hits.

However, names such as Stonebwoy, Camidoh and Sarkodie and Piesie Esther have also come up as likely candidates for the topmost VGMA prize.

Lynx Entertainment signee, KiDi won last year’s Artiste of the Year award.
