IF there is one person who lives by the tenet ‘little drops of water, make a mighty ocean’ then it would be Highlife artiste, Oheneba Kissi.

He doesn’t sit and wait for the big gigs, which pay huge but goes ahead to accept the ‘small cash’ he is paid to perform at private engagements every week. Such money, when put together, becomes quite substantial, which he invests.

In fact, he has resorted to this way of generating cash to invest for fear of coming down with sickness in his old age or when he is unable to earn an income and he will have no option but to solicit funds from the public to take care of himself.

Thus the ABC of Love singer is investing a lot to secure his future, especially when he saw how some of his colleagues ended up miserably and as paupers. He doesn’t wish to go the same way.

Speaking in an interview with the Graphic Showbiz, the versatile musician said he was more concerned about his future which was why he was gathering all the little money he could lay his hands on to put it to good use.

“I don’t reject any money because I know what it can do for me. I have been able to acquire properties some of which I have rented out and making good money. I have other businesses that give me income on the side in addition to music,” he said.

According to him, most musicians preferred the big money from the big concerts forgetting that the small amounts when put together could do a lot of things.

“I can take GH₵3,000 as a performance fee and if I am taking that every week, that is GH₵12,000 a month. Some musicians will reject that kind of money because they feel it is too small and rather wait for the big gigs.

For me, if the big money comes, fine; however, if the small money comes too, I am cool with that. For instance, I was given GH₵30,000 to perform at Kabfam Legends Awards and that was big for me. This does not come often like the little ones I get every week. I will encourage every musician to do the same,” he stated.
