Gifty Boakye, a renowned Ghanaian fashion model, recently achieved a remarkable milestone by obtaining her Master’s degree in Global Development & Social Justice from St. Johns University in New York.

The graduation ceremony took place on the university premises last Friday, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of numerous students from various fields.

Gifty Boakye’s educational journey stands as a testament to her unwavering dedication and passion, as she had previously pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Communication at the same institution.

In an interview with the director of philanthropy for Afrochela, now known as Afrofuture, she shared her aspirations for the future:

“As a fashion model, I intend to continue serving as a global ambassador through public speaking and representing my people. My goal is to work as a diplomat, focusing on Ghana, and contribute my perspectives on global affairs and the representation of nations,” she said.

Gifty Boakye stressed the significance of her dual heritage, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to experience both Ghanaian and American cultures. She firmly believes that cultural nuances can be expressed, explored, and explained, and she aims to work for the greater good by uplifting people, improving the quality of life for the vulnerable, promoting peace, and fostering gender equality.

When reflecting on her influences and role models, Gifty Boakye drew inspiration from her mother, a symbol of resilience in her life.

“My mother already refers to me as ‘Ambassador Gifty Boakye’ and supports me in all my endeavors, offering prayers before each of my flights around the world,” she shared.

Furthermore, Gifty expressed her admiration for the late Kofi Annan, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, and expressed her desire to follow in his footsteps.

In addition to her successful modeling career, Gifty Boakye has also established herself as an entrepreneur. During her college years, she began modeling for local photographers and quickly gained recognition for her beauty and photogenic qualities.

Notably, she received the title of Local Model of the Year at the 2019 African Entertainment Awards USA and was a finalist in the 2022 World Supranational beauty contest.

In 2017, Gifty founded her own brand, NATIVE, with the aim of promoting the idea that everyone should embrace and showcase their cultural roots without judgment. Furthermore, her philanthropic endeavors led her to establish the NGO Sisters Love and Admire Yourself (S.L.A.Y).
