Piesie Esther, Nana Ama McBrown win at Ghana Women Awards

Ghanaian showbiz personalities, Piesie Esther and Nana Ama McBrown were among a number of distinguished female personalities who were honoured at this year’s Ghana Women Awards which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Sunday, June 4.

The reigning VGMA Gospel Artiste of the Year received Best Female Entertainer and Nana Ama McBrown walked home with the Best Female Media Personality award.

Organised by Brein Consult, Ghana Women Awards unveils, honours and celebrates Ghanaian women who are making great impact in the society across all industries and public service institutions; from politics, health, education, sports, law, security to showbiz.

This year’s Ghana Women Awards dubbed, “Celebrating Womanhood” was aimed at celebrating women of excellence in various facets of the society with 40 honorees celebrated on the night.

Apart from showbiz personalities, the likes of Dr. Louisa Satekla – Most Promising Lady, Ayisa Bawa- Outstanding female midwife, Nakeeyat Dramani- Outstanding Girl Child, Christiana Naa Marley Ashly – Outstanding Sports Personality, Hajia Manira Lamptey of Imani Impressions- Outstanding female entrepreneur were among the other women honoured on the day.

The award scheme which started in 2009 has in the past celebrated a number of distinguished women among which include Mrs Esther Cobbah (Corporate Woman,), Dr Afisah Zakariah (Outstanding Doctor), Mrs Patience Quaye (Outstanding Female Police Service) and Akosua Adjepong (Outstanding Female Entertainer).

The maiden event was held at Alisa Hotel on May 30, 2009 and twenty (20) distinguished and outstanding women were honourned and awarded in their various fields of disciplines.
