HN Sarpei Foundation donates books, jerseys to two schools

HN Sarpei Foundation, a charity organisation established by Germany-based footballer, Hans Nunoo Sarpei, has donated library supplies to two schools in the Ododiodioo Constituency.

Sarpei presented books, shelves, pencils, chairs and set of football jerseys to the 28th February Road & Private Odartey Memorial Basic School, and the Adedenkpo 1&2 Primary School to stock up the schools’ libraries and provide kits for the two schools.

Presenting the items to the schools yesterday, Sarpei said the donations formed part of his summer activities which focus on giving back to the community that shaped his formative years in Ghana.

The 24-year-old, who plies his trade with Bundesliga II side FC Ingolstadt 04, added that he was looking at improving the educational standards of the people within Ga Mashie and its environs where he grew up and stated his readiness to use his foundation as a vehicle to achieve that goal.

“I did not attend school here, but my team and I did our checks and realised we needed to help these schools urgently by furnishing their libraries.

“This is what motivates me to continue working harder when I am on the field because I want to continue supporting their dreams,” Sarpei explained.

For her part, Headmistress of the 28th February Road & Private Odartey Memorial Basic School, Vincentia Korkuvi, expressed her gratitude to the footballer for his support and promised the gesture would go a long way to improve the reading habits of the children.

Madam Vincentia described the donation as timely since the school had lacked a well-furnished library for years.

“I am very happy for this gesture because I know what it means to everyone in this school, especially the children who have been without a library for years”.
