Gospel singer Empress Gifty has expressed her frustration with the Ghanaian media, claiming that she has been subjected to unfair misrepresentation for a very long time.
Sharing her experience in a recent interview on Hitz FM, the award-winning singer raised concerns about misrepresentation of her personal life and career in the media.
She cited instances where her words were taken out of context and headlines were sensationalised, creating confusion in the minds of her followers and the public at large.
“l understand their controversies and how they work, they can just change everything that you said, but as for me, I don’t care, because I know I am doing the right thing and that’s it, I make sure that on my page, I tell my people the truth about the whole issue. As for the media, I play along with whatever they’re doing,” she said
The singer went on to emphasise the importance of responsible journalism and the need for accurate representation in the media.
She expressed her desire to continue spreading positivity and encouragement through her songs, while also urging the media to play a role in supporting artistes who contribute positively to society.
“It’s about time the bloggers, the presenters, the consumers need to know that, maybe the caption is there but go check the interview, go listen to what Empress said, if you don’t believe it, come to my page, and see what I said, and then you can give your conclusion.
“If the bloggers and the presenters can also switch a little bit, it can also help them because I don’t think I’m the only one with concerns about this issue,” she added.
