Nsoatreman FC began their CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a resounding 3-0 victory over the Chadian side, Elect Sport, at the Accra Stadium yesterday.

The Ghanaian club delivered an impressive first-half performance, securing all three goals within the first 37 minutes to take control of the match.

The game started with Coach Yaw Preko’s men on the front foot, launching a series of attacks that kept Elect Sport’s defence under pressure. 

Despite their dominance, the hosts remained cautious until the 30th minute when Abdul Rahman Mahmoud broke the deadlock, outsmarting the Chadian goalkeeper to slot in the opening goal.

Strong start

Three minutes later, Nsoatreman doubled their lead as Adu Kwabena Meider found the back of the net with a sublime finish. The onslaught continued, and in the 37th minute, Rahman secured his brace, converting a well-placed pass from Adu to give Nsoatreman a comfortable 3-0 advantage.

Elect Sport struggled to cope with the pace and intensity of Nsoatreman, particularly down the left flank, where Adolphe Nedingam found himself repeatedly outmanoeuvred. 

Adu, who was in fine form, combined effectively with Wahlid Neymar Fuseini, creating numerous opportunities that threatened the visitors’ defence.

The second half saw Nsoatreman maintaining their dominance, though they missed several chances to extend the lead. 

Red card

Elect Sport’s goalkeeper, Maamat Atteib Bechir, was sent off early in the second half for handling the ball outside the penalty area, leaving his team to play with ten men. 

Substitute goalkeeper, Sampson Doguembi, was called into the action, and made several crucial saves to prevent further goals.

Despite their numerical advantage, Nsoatreman appeared to take their foot off the pedal, allowing Elect Sport to gain control in midfield. 

Nsoatreman nearly gave away a goal following a miscommunication between goalkeeper, Daniel Afadzinu, and his centre-back, Ebenezer Sekyere, but Afadzinu recovered quickly to save the situation.

The Chadians managed a few dangerous attacks, with Bambara Djela forcing a spectacular save from Nsoatreman’s goalkeeper, Daniel Afadzinu.

However, Nsoatreman’s defence held firm, and the match ended without any further goals. The victory has given them a solid start in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign, leaving them in a strong position as they look ahead to the return leg.
