Tulenkey’s Tonight is most difficult video I worked on —Andrews Dartey

VIDEO director, Andrews Dartey popularly known as Aphro has revealed the most challenging video he has ever worked on is Tonight by Tulenkey.

The song which was released last year demanded a lot of creative input to match the storyline.

Speaking with Graphic Showbiz on Sunday, March 5, the old student of Presbyterian Boys Secondary School (PRESEC), Legon, mentioned that although it was difficult to work on it, he was excited about the final product.

“I’ve worked on a number of projects but my most challenging was Tulenkey’s Tonight. I will say the song challenged my creativity since there were many elements that needed to go into it.

“Tulenkey identifies with the youth as a rapper but Tonight has Highlife vibe which was a switch from what he is known for. However, with the experience gained over the years, the video came out well even though it demanded a lot more particularly with the technical aspect”, he said.

According to Andrews Dartey, the video also sold his abilities to other musicians who later sought his services. A few months after the release, he has had the chance to work with some renowned musicians including Dancehall act, Shatta Wale.

Andrews had a good time las year when he worked with German Football team, Borussia Dortmund as its official cinematographer during the team’s tour in Ghana in June.

Andrews Dartey is gradually building a good name in the music and film industries having worked with a number of musicians such as Medikal, Kelvyn Boy, Kofi Mole and Climbie Africa.

At the moment, it has been good for Andrews with his steady gains in the game, and he told Graphic Showbiz he was excited directing videos was getting prominence in the music space.

“No better story can be told without visuals and that is why musicians must not rule out the significance of videos to the advancement of their brands.

“I’m really excited our people are beginning to understand and appreciate this side of music production chain”, he added.

He went on to say he loved to work with other video directors adding, “I’m detailed oriented yet artistic. I am proficient at blending creative vision with extensive technical knowledge and practicality.

“This year, I’m working on a music documentary focused on captivating live performances and behind the scenes of Ghanaian musicians touring Europe”, Andrews Dartey
