The Amansie South District Chief Executive, Clement Opoku has been accused of connecting electric power supply to his residence illegally at Manso Adubia in the Ashanti Region.

According to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the DCE connected the power without using a meter.

He is said to have without documentation, mounted poles, running the power cables through an adjoining plot to his house on the blind side of the ECG.

ECG has consequently disconnected the power to the house and removed the cables, explaining the service to the house was “unauthorised”.

The Ashanti Regional Director of the ECG, David  Boadi Asamoah led officers from Kumasi to do the disconnection.

He said when they arrived at the residence, they saw that that at least four street lights in the walled house were on.

Mr Boadi Asamoah said that aroused their curiosity suspecting that anybody who was indeed paying for that power will ensure that the street lights are turned off during the day.

When they checked they realised that the service had been connected from the main pole by running it through somebody else’s plot.

Mr Asamoah said ECG will ensure that the DCE pays for all the power he has used without going through meter.
