King Promise ends VGMA Awards “drought”

Finally, King Promise can heave a sigh of relief after winning his first award after losing out many times at the Ghana Music Awards in the last five years.

King Promise has always been a favourite contender but unfortunately, he has not been lucky to win any category nominated but the “curse” has been broken when he picked the Best Afrobeat/Afro Pop Artiste of the Year award.

Born Gregory Bortey Promise Newman, King Promise is known for songs such as ’10 Toes’, ‘CCTV’, ‘Tokyo’, ‘Ginger’, ‘Put on You’, ‘Chale’ and ‘Dabedi’.

Apart from King Promise, other winners on the night are Black Sherif, Piesie Esther, Niella, Perez Musik, Stonebwoy, Camidoh and Nigeria’s Asake.

This year’s VGMA was held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
