George Afriyie, a prominent candidate vying for the presidency of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has made an undisclosed monetary donation to Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, popularly known as Bahmed, at his residence in Accra.

Bahmed, a former board member of Asante Kotoko, recently suffered the unfortunate amputation of his left leg. Recognizing Bahmed’s significant contributions to the development of football in the country, Afriyie felt compelled to extend his support to the former CEO of Bahmed Travel and Tours.

“Words cannot adequately express Bahmed’s contributions to Ghana football. In the past, he would personally finance trips for our national teams. He has done an exceptional job for Ghana football,” Afriyie acknowledged.

With the occasion of Sallah (Eid al-Fitr) approaching, Afriyie emphasized that a person like Bahmed, following the traditions of an Alhaji, would typically engage in extensive charitable donations. Learning of Bahmed’s current predicament, Afriyie decided to visit him and present this token of support. He further pledged to maintain regular contact with Bahmed.

Expressing deep gratitude, Bahmed acknowledged the generous gesture from the esteemed football administrator and endorsed Afriyie’s candidacy for the upcoming GFA elections. “When it comes to good football administration, names like George Afriyie cannot be left out,” Bahmed stated.

Following the visit to Bahmed’s residence, Afriyie and his team extended their support to Sulley Agbozo, a former employee of the GFA who is presently battling with a stroke.

Earlier this week, Afriyie formally announced his intention to run in next year’s GFA elections. His visit to Bahmed and Agbozo demonstrates his commitment to fostering goodwill and providing assistance to individuals facing challenging circumstances within the football community.
