Don’t give up on entrepreneurial dreams – Dr McKorley urges students

Ghanaian entrepreneur and chairman of the McDan Group of companies, Dr Daniel McKorley, has admonished students not to allow setbacks to impede their pursuit for entrepreneurial dreams.

He has, instead, challenged them to take setbacks from businesses as a learning curve and allow it to help build on their ambitions and not allow it to be a demoralising factor that will push them to abandon their ambition.

Delivering his key note address at the #McDanYouthConnect, the business mogul emphasised on the values of hard work, resilience and learning from failures as the hallmark to achieving their goals.

Business dreams

According to him, most people, particularly the young ones who dare to start some business easily watch their dreams fizzle out after a few months when things don’t go as plan but advised that the keys to a breakthrough in business lied between the point of quitting and pushing further.

He said scaling the tides in business does not come on a silver platter and added that most entrepreneurs who are successful today are those who, despite challenges, refused to give up but work harder to find the solutions to their problems.

Dr McKorley further acknowledged the importance of collaboration among the business sector, educational institutions and traditional leaders in promoting sustainable development and to nurture the potential of the young ones.

“The acknowledgement from the traditional leaders showcase the power of unity and collaboration in inspiring and empowering the youth.

The University of Cape Coast will witness this exceptional occasion where entrepreneurship, education and traditional leadership converge to shape a brighter future of Ghana’s youth”, he said.

Traditional leaders

Earlier in a separate meeting with two traditional leaders in Cape Coast, Dr McKorley, acknowledged their guidance in shaping their communities and inspiring the youth and emphasised his resolve to supporting the development of the youth and promised to work closely with the traditional leaders to create a better future.

At the Palace of the Zongo chief of the Kotokuraba traditional area, Chief Dandey expressed his gratitude to Dr McKorley for the positive impact he has made in the various sectors and particularly empowering the youth.

He was also full of praise for the McDan Group chairman for his commitment towards uplifting communities and challenged the youth in his area to follow in the footsteps of Dr McKorley by working hard.

From the Zongo chief’s place, Dr McKorley was at the office of the Omanhene of Cape Coast, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, where the revered chief emphasised on the importance of education, entrepreneurship and community development.

These attributes, the chief said, was what has made Dr McKorley a role model to the youth and thanked him for what he was doing to ensure the upcoming generation was equipped with the confidence to enable them confront the business world.

He also appreciated the business mogul for selecting University of Cape Coast as a place where he wants to inspire and empower young minds, and also praised him for his commitment towards nation-building.
