Black Queens secure dominant 3-0 win against Guinea

The Black Queens of Ghana opened their 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualifiers with a resounding 3-0 victory over their Guinean counterparts at the Stade General Lansana Conte in Conakry.

It was Gokulam Kerala FC forward Vivian Adjei Konadu who drew first blood in the 19th minute before Doris Boaduwaa and Evelyn Badu added a goal each in the 27th and 72nd minutes respectively.

The Queens got their first goal after Konadu capitalized on a goalkeeping howler before Evelyn Badu sealed the deal for the day after connecting a tailored cross from Mary Amponsah.

The Ghanaians started the match unrelenting taking charge of all the departments of the game and ended the first half with a 2-0 lead.

In her quest to protect the lead, Swiss coach Nora Hauptle substituted Vivian Adjei Konadu for Gifty Assifuah, Prncella Adubea made way for Mary Amponsah while Ernestina Abambila took the place of Grace Asantewaa after recess.

The Queens continued probing for more goals but Mary Amponsah’s shot from the flanks in the 75th minute narrowly missed the post.

The match ended 3-0 in favor of the Black Queens, who will host Guinea for a second encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, July 18, at 4pm.
