The senior national men’s football team, Black Stars will play their Mexican counterparts in an international friendly on Saturday, October 14, at a venue to be announced later.
The Stars will also come face-to-face with the US national team at GEODIS Park in Nashville on October 17.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in a statement on Tuesday, July 18 announced that the games formed part of Ghana’s preparations for important competitions such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers to be played in November and the Africa Cup of Nations which will be staged in January 2024 in Abidjan.
“The Ghana Football Association has signed a contract with the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) for an International friendly against 2023 Concacaf CONCACAF Gold Cup champions Mexico in the United States as part of the 20th anniversary of the MexTour,” a statement on the FA website read.
The last time Ghana played against Mexico in a friendly was in June, 2017 in Houston, where the Mexicans won 1-0.
Meanwhile, the GFA says the process for media accreditation is not yet available, adding the media would be alerted when it opens.
