Hearts of Oak legend Mr. Vincent K. Louis remembered as a man of integrity

Mohammad Polo, renowned for his dribbling prowess in football, has paid tribute to the late Hearts of Oak icon, Mr. Vincent K. Louis, who was affectionately known as the ‘Cornerkick Specialist’. 

Mr. Louis passed away on July 4, 2023, at his Nii Boi residence, with his burial scheduled for this weekend.

Describing the departed sportsman, Polo, also known as the ‘Dribbling Magician’, hailed him as a gentleman of great integrity. Despite belonging to different generations, Polo emphasized that Louis consistently displayed a high level of integrity in their interactions.

Polo recounted, “He truly embodied the essence of integrity. He was a regular presence at Accra Hearts of Oak Old Players Association (AHOPA) meetings, where he commanded immense respect. He possessed a calm demeanor, occasionally offering valuable advice to some of us.”

Sharing a personal memory, Polo continued, “I was with him at Anas’ funeral, and he advised me to hasten my ongoing projects. Little did I know that he would be the next to leave us. Despite being our senior, he treated us as equals. His integrity was unparalleled, and may Allah grant him eternal peace.”

In the meantime, the body of the late Vincent K. Louis will be received by the clergy of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra on Friday morning, followed by a procession to pay respects. A burial mass and a private burial will be held on the same day, with a thanksgiving service planned for Sunday.

Mr. Vincent K. Louis, who was a building contractor, passed away at the age of 87. He is survived by six children and eleven grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and dedication to the sport.
