Ampem Darkoa Ladies off to a good start in WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers

Ghana Women’s Premier League champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies opened their WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers on a good note after recording a 4-2 victory over Togolese side Amis Du Monde on Sunday, August 20 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Sports Stadium in Benin City, Nigeria.

Black Queens forward Mary Amponsah scored all four goals, twice in each half, as the Ghanaians stamped their dominance over the Togolese.

Amis Du Monde made frantic efforts to reduce the deficit but Ampem Darkoa Ladies held on to the lead till the final blast of the whistle.

For her exceptional performance, Mary Amponsah was adjudged the Woman of the Match.

The win saw the Ghanaians rise to the summit of the Group B table ahead of their second group game against Atletico FC of Cote d’Ivoire on Friday, August 25, at the same venue.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies are seeking to book a spot to the third edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League after their last failed attempt in 2021.
