CAF Confed Cup: Dreams FC secure vital away point

Dreams FC split points with Milo FC in the first leg of their preliminary round match of the CAF Confederation Cup game played in Conakry, Guinea, on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Milo FC needed a late equaliser just on the death of full time when Mamady Bamba scored to cancel Gael Aholou’s 35th minute opener.

The outcome has enhanced Dreams FC’s chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition if they avoid defeat in their return leg game at the Accra Stadium on Saturday.

Determination

Coach Karim Zito’s men went into the game very determined to raise the flag of Ghana high, and made a number of incursions into the area but were unable to score.

In a number of forays into the Guinean side’s half, they were denied by the alertness of the defence until in the 35th minute when Milo FC’s resolute defence capitulated  for the Ghanaians to score the opening goal.

Equaliser

Milo FC did not give up as they fought hard for the equaliser but failed to score until the game went on recess.

Determined to hold on to their lead, Dreams FC continued from where they started in the first half in search of more goals but could not find it.

At this point the Ghanaians were confident they could walk away with the maximum points until their hearts were broken when Bamba scored on the 90th minute to deny them the maximum points.
