THERE is generally the perception that Ghanaian creatives hardly support each other to rise together. However, what appears to be a break from the norm is the news of a set of twins welcomed by Selly Gally and husband Stephen Fiawoo, popularly known as Praye Tietia of Praye fame, recently.
The Fiawoos who have always been open about battles of childbirth have been married for eight years with no issue. But since the beginning of this week, they have been basking in congratulatory messages from people, especially their colleague celebs.
Social media has literally been awash with excitement following the news which was accompanied by pictures of Selly proudly showcasing her baby bump.
Among those who can’t stop showering the new parents with best wishes is actress Luckie Lawson, who is more than happy for the celebrity couple for their bundles of joy who were born in the United States of America.
According to Luckie, Selly has been through a lot in the past eight years and deserves to enjoy every bit of motherhood.
“I have seen Selly’s struggles—miscarriages, insults, not to talk of trolling on social media; it was just too much. It has not been easy for her and I can only imagine the joy these babies have brought to her.
“Most, if not every married woman, expects to have a baby and it can be so disheartening and frustrating if that dream is not coming through. Trust me, motherhood is not a walk in the park. It comes with a lot of challenges but it is rewarding. In this part of our world, if you attain a certain age and you don’t have a child, society looks at you in a certain way, although it might not even be your fault,” she told Graphic Showbiz in an interview last Monday.
One thing that bothers Luckie most is when women hit menopause and childbirth becomes almost impossible.
“Women are not like men who can even have children in their 90s. Some women even have early menopause so you can imagine what such women are going through. The stigma, the name-calling and what have you. So I am delighted Selly has given birth, and to a set of twins,” she added.
