Former EPL star urges Arsenal to sell ‘unreliable’ Thomas Partey

Former Aston Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor has offered his perspective on the situation surrounding Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey.

Agbonlahor believes it might be opportune for Arsenal to sell Partey, given his recurrent injuries, which have resulted in his absence from several matches.

During the previous transfer window, the Ghanaian midfielder attracted interest from various clubs, including Juventus and teams from Saudi Arabia.

Despite this attention, Partey ultimately remained at Arsenal. He has demonstrated versatility by occasionally filling in as a right back, but has unfortunately suffered another setback due to injury.

Agbonlahor argues that Partey’s history of missed games, whether due to injury or a dip in form, raises questions about his reliability as an option for the team.

He suggests that Arsenal could potentially benefit from selling him and using the proceeds to invest in a long-term replacement, offering a definitive solution to this recurring issue.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former striker stated: “I would let him go. Some games he’s poor, some games he’s very good, and some games he is injured.

“When you sit down and work it out, is he giving you more than 50% of a season of his best football? Is he doing enough? If I was Arsenal I’d sell him if the money’s right. I think they were trying during the summer.

“I would look at a long-term replacement because as much as he’s a good player, the injuries will just get worse the older he gets.”
