Ramson Ventures invests in amateur boxing

He stated that his outfit’s decision to support young boxers was due to the huge potential boxing has in creating jobs for the youth.

He revealed that apart from football, boxing was the only sport that continues to bring more smiles on the faces of Ghanaians and also placed Ghana on the international stage.

According to him, he had the passion for boxing in his youthful days. “Besides considering the gesture as my corporate social responsibility, I believe supporting boxing in Ghana is worth it,” he stated.

He charged government to give priority to boxing, describing government’s over concentration on football to the neglect of boxing as worrying.

Mr Odartey Lamptey also entreated government to channel some resources to develop other lesser sports like boxing.

He indicated that it was sad that successive governments had failed to support the sport, and yet whenever boxers raised the flag of Ghana high at the world stage, governments took the glory.

Mr Lamptey argued that boxing had produced close to ten world champions, but soccer has failed to replicate this feat at the world stage despite all the investments by successive governments.

He noted that boxing entailed a lot and required great sacrifices from boxers, trainers and promoters.

To him, the sport has been relegated to the background for long, and the rippling effect has hit the pro division.

“We want to help lift boxing in Ghana to its rightful place”, added.
