Lynx Entertainment signee and 2020 VGMA Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene has disclosed that he is yet to receive payment for writing about 80% of Mr Drew’s popular Case.

Speaking with vlogger Naana Donkor Arthur in a TikTok Live conversation recently, the Open Gates hitmaker who’s admired for his writing skills said he wrote the hook and parts of the second verse of the song.

“I wrote the entire hook, and some part of the second verse. I wrote like 80 percent of that song. In fact, before he came to record the song, that hook and everything was already done, he listened to it and sang it.

“It’s quite unfortunate that this is the platform I have to send a message to Mr Drew to prompt him to do what he needs to do because the song is doing good. That hook is great. If I had sang it by myself, it would have still been a hit song because I wrote that song thinking about wish me well.

Kuami Eugene noted that he had no issues writing for his colleagues since he couldn’t sing all the songs he writes.

 “It’s just a blessing that you write songs for people to sing even though I get paid for it. Drew didn’t do that [didn’t pay me] but we will talk about it later,” he said.

He said he could take legal action against Mr Drew for his action but rescinded on such a move because he regarded him as a brother.

“I can actually make it a legal case but it is not necessary. We are brothers. I think he should see me so we talk about this. I love peace, so me, Kaywa, him, whatever is going on, let’s get it fixed. He can send one split sheet and that will solve everything.

“I am saying this because he has seen my messages and has blue-ticked me as if he has not seen them but the song is doing well on the market,” he stated.

Mr Drew’s response

However, Mr Drew dropped a subtle and equally hilarious response to Kuami Eugene.

He posted a cryptic message on Twitter yesterday, with the caption, “Come again,” a post that many have suggested and interpreted as a response to Kuame Eugene’s claims.
