Winning Best Gospel Song award at 2023 GMA-UK boosts my brand -Joseph Matthew

UK-based-Ghanaian Gospel artiste, Joseph Matthew has won the UK based Best Gospel Song of the Year award at this year’s Ghana Music Awards – UK held at the Royal Regency last Saturday.

He told Graphic Showbiz that the win boosts his soaring brand which he has worked hard over the years to build.

Joseph Matthew, who beat strong competition from the likes of MayQueen, Samuel Sey, Yvonne Asamoah-Tawiah, Alice Mckenzie, Nana Amankwah Tiah and Alex Acheampong, mentioned that even though winning awards doesn’t define him, it is equally a recognition of his brand and testament of his good works.

“I don’t think that winning awards defines the success of any artiste but if you work really hard and know just how much work you put into your career, winning awards gives credibility and also boosts one’s brand.

“And that is why I’m excited about this award. It is a major enhancement for my brand considering that the awards ceremony is a prestigious and credible platform,” he stated.

Joseph Matthew emerged as a fast-rising Ghanaian-UK-based Gospel artiste making some steady progress in Ghana when he started promoting his songs back home four years ago.

With songs such as Halleluyah, Nyame Ye, My Story, Not Alone and The Name gaining some amount of popularity in Ghana, Joseph was emboldened to host his maiden concert at the Perez Dome in May last year.

The artiste released the song, Blessed last year which won him the UK-based Best Gospel Song of the Year award.

Matthew has always shown his love and appreciation for the Ghanaian culture and that had been his motivation for starting a music genre referred to as Afro-Gospel.

In keeping up with the style, he released Promise Land, rendered in a highlife vein, earlier in July.
