CAF Champions League: Medeama leave for Egypt for Al Ahly clash

Ghana champions, Medeama SC will depart Accra for Cairo today, November 22, 2023, for their CAF Champions League group stage campaign against Al Ahly SC.

 A 21-man squad and 11-man technical team, including video analysts will make the trip. Medeama will open the group stage of the competition against the Egyptian giants on Saturday, November 25, at the Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo, according to the club.

Meanwhile, the trio of Nurudeen Abdulai, Abdul Fatawu Hamidu and Jonathan Sowah will join the team after returning from Black Stars camp after the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Madagascar and Comoros.

Zimbabwean forward, Kudakwashe Mahachi, who joined Medeama prior to the commencement of the 2023/24 league season is also expected to join the team’s squad for the trip to Egypt.

Al Ahly SC are the defending champions and record winners of the CAF Champions League while this is the first time Medeama will be playing in the group stage of the competition.

Medeama secured a ticket to the group stage of the CAF Champions League after eliminating Guinean giants Horoya AC in the final round of the preliminary stage.
