I have not been a good father to my daughter – Ofori Amponsah

Renowned Ghanaian musician, Ofori Amponsah says he regrets not living up to the mark as a father to his daughter with socialite Ayisha Modi.

Making the revelation in a recent interview with popular blogger Zionfelix, he admitted to not being the father he aspired to be, acknowledging a lack of connection with his 18-year old daughter, who resides abroad.

The Otoolege hitmaker held that despite his financial contributions to his daughter’s education and well-being, he felt a level of discontentment with the emotional distance between them because merely providing for her material needs fell short of fulfilling the comprehensive role he had to play as a father.

“Yes, I have a child with her [Ayisha Modi]. I even called her on her 18th birthday to wish her well. But there is a bit of distance between us, and also, I have never been a good father. Not at all, because I should have been more for the child even though I take care of her schooling abroad. But I think human beings need more than just that. The connection is key too,” shared Ofori Amponsah during the interview.

He emphasised the importance of building a stronger connection with his daughter, recognizing that phone conversations, though a means of communication, are insufficient for fostering a meaningful bond.

“So, it means I have to do more as a father. It has been something I have been pondering over all the time. Because they are outside the country, we normally talk on the phone, and that is not the best. However, I am there for her, and I pray for her all the time too,” he explained.
