Diaspora organisation to build youth entrepreneurial skills

Free Inspiration Reaching Everyone (F.I.R.E.), an events and philanthropic organisation based in the United States of America, has outlined a number of activities this Yuletide season, aimed among other things at linking diasporians with Ghanaians while empowering the youth with various entrepreneurial and investment skills and knowledge.

It begins from December 14 with ‘Ghana to the Moon’, a major career fair, business and technology conference expected to attract 300 participants, 150 of which are university students from six tertiary institutions in the country and will be held at the World Trade Centre in Accra.

This will be climaxed with a ‘Ghana to the Moon Festival/Concert on December 16 at Bayview Village Accra.

Other activities will include baseball game clinic and exhibition at the Labone Baseball Field, Accra; Cultural Tours; Afrofuture – Accra among many others.

Started since 2017, the annual mission and impact trip to Ghana, endorsed by the Beyond The Return Initiative and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has become one of the most patronised events in December because of its special design that has encouraged the diaspora to visit, take tours, enjoy cultural and social events.

Founder of F.I.R.E., Emil Acolatse, told the media; “our philanthropic and community service projects, as well as investment opportunities empower the youth and various communities in Ghana.

He said the vision of the group was to create a world where underprivileged children and the youth grow up with access to resources and community development.

“Our mission is to continuously raise the standard of youth development in the world by using resources and technology to inspire individuals to discover and maximise their talents in efforts to build community.

Throwing more light on the ‘Ghana to the moon’ programme, he said it was a business and technology conference aimed at providing access to information, resources, and relationship to young professionals in Ghana while creating a pipeline between the country and abroad.

The global initiative, he said, had attracted participants from various parts of Ghana.
