LAST year, his maiden Mozama Disco concert at Labadi Beach Hotel garnered huge success and reigning Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA), Artiste of the Year, Black Sherif is ready with yet another one.
So come Thursday, December 21, the 7pm concert which is now dubbed Zaama Disco and will be hosted this time at La Palm Royal Beach, Accra, is packed with some of Ghana’s finest musicians who are poised to thrill fans.
In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz, Black Sherif said the change of name from Mozama Disco to Zaama Disco will not affect the event in any way.
“Mozama Disco is same as Zaama Disco. The new name makes it simply and catchy. The concert is an annual one and it has come to stay.
“The maiden edition which was supported by acts including Sarkodie, Bosom P Young, KiDi, Gyakie, Cina Souls, Wendy Shay and Lasmid was massive and I believe the second will be mind- blowing.
“Already, my team and I are putting in a lot to make sure it is a success. A lot of rehearsals are ongoing and I am glad the musicians I called to perform gladly accepted my invitation”, he stated.
Black Sherif began his career in 2019 with the release of a demo titled Cry for Me. However, his debut single, Money dropped on May 25, 2020 along with its music video.
In May 2021, his came out with another single, First Sermon, further increasing his audience. He followed it up with Second Sermon which featured Nigeria’s Burna Boy.
Black Sherif big break came in March 2022 with the release of his single Kwaku the Traveller, which reached No. 1 on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts and became his most popular song. He later came out with his debut album, The Villain I Never Was, in October last year.
Black Sherif who has worked on songs by Sarkodie, Stormzy, Amerado, DJ Breezy, Larry Gaaga and others performed at the 25th anniversary of the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards, which took place at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London.
On 20 February 2023, Black Sherif won the Best Hip-Hop award at the Soundcity MVP Awards at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos and then Artiste of the Year at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) the same year.
