President Akuffo Addo underscored the meticulously crafted peace and security in our nation during his address at the Parliament House on February 27th, 2024.

He particularly emphasized the collaborative efforts between the government and security services to maintain this vital aspect of national stability. President Akuffo Addo highlighted the deliberate policies, meticulous planning, and dedicated efforts of the security services that have safeguarded our country.

He acknowledged the significant investment and resources allocated to ensure the readiness of the Armed Forces and other security agencies, emphasizing the improvement in their welfare and infrastructure. The President commended the Ghana Police Service for their enhanced capabilities and increased visibility, which contribute to community reassurance and safety.

However, amidst these achievements, President Akuffo Addo expressed concern over persistent chieftaincy and land disputes, especially in areas like Bawku. He lamented the diversion of resources and energy towards resolving these conflicts instead of channeling them into developmental projects. He also highlighted the security implications of such internal tensions, which could attract external threats.

To address these challenges, the government has implemented various measures, including establishing a special Bawku Taskforce and shutting down radio stations propagating hate speech. Additionally, specialized courts have been set up to expedite the resolution of criminal matters related to the Bawku conflict.

President Akuffo Addo emphasized the shared responsibility between the government and citizens in maintaining national security. He urged everyone to actively participate in initiatives like the “See Something, Say Something” campaign to create a conducive atmosphere for security and peace across the nation.
