Emergency Landing of Ghana Air Force Helicopter near Agona Nkwanta

On Tuesday, 19th March 2024, a Ghana Air Force Helicopter with registration number GHF 696 was involved in an emergency landing near Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region. The helicopter was conducting routine offshore powerline inspection of the Atuabo gas plant, carrying 21 passengers, including staff from the Ghana National Gas Company and aircrew, when the incident occurred.

The emergency landing took place at approximately 1230 hours in the vicinity of Bonsukrom near Agona Nkwanta. Despite the unexpected landing, all passengers on board have been safely evacuated, and there have been no reported fatalities. However, as a precautionary measure, the passengers are currently undergoing routine medical checkups.

Preliminary assessments have commenced to determine the cause of the incident. The relevant authorities, including the Ghana Air Force and other concerned agencies, are actively investigating the matter to ascertain the factors contributing to the emergency landing.
