Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, an independent presidential aspirant, has made a significant pledge to establish modern retail markets in seven areas within the Eastern Region.

As part of his campaign to engage with market women across the country and understand their challenges, Kyerematen visited Nsawam, Adeiso, Asamankese, Akwatia, Kade, Suhum, and Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region.

During his address to the gathered market women, Kyerematen, also known as Alan Cash, promised that if elected in the upcoming December 7 elections, he would prioritize the construction of modern markets. These markets would be equipped with various facilities, including a crèche to provide a safe place for the children of market women. Kyerematen expressed concern for those who currently have to carry their babies on their backs while working.

In addition to the crèche, the modern markets would feature a clinic to cater to the health needs of the market community, a contemporary lorry station for efficient transportation, and an amusement center for recreational activities.

During the event, a trader named Auntie Serwaa, representing the Amankesse market, expressed her frustration with both the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party, the two major political parties in Ghana. She explained that the enthusiastic reception of Kyerematen was due to his offering an alternative to these parties, which resonated with the market women.
