Former Information Minister John Tia has passed away after a brief illness, in the Upper East Region.

He reported died in the early hours of March, 24, 2024, at the Upper East Regional hospital in Bolgatanga.

John Tia, who recently participated in the confirmation of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate for the 2024 election, served as the member of Parliament for Talensi from January 7, 1993, until his defeat in the 2012 general election.

Additionally, he held the position of Minister for Information in Ghana.

Tia had announced his intentions to pursue full-time farming after his ambassadorial role in cuba, aiming to contribute to the country’s food security efforts.
