NDC Communicator Slams NPP Government, Calls for Media Attention on Treasonable Comments

Report by Apeke Rosemary-3/04/2024

In a scathing critique of the ruling NPP government, Henry Frimpong, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator, unleashed a barrage of criticism during an exclusive interview on AIT TV’s Morning Dew show. Frimpong minced no words as he lambasted the Nana Addo Dankwah-led administration, branding it as the “luckiest government since the fourth republic.”

Frimpong expressed his disappointment over the recent remarks made by Bryan Acheampong, the Agricultural Minister and NPP Member of Parliament for Abetifi constituency. Acheampong’s assertion that “there is no way the NPP would hand power over to the NDC” drew sharp condemnation from Frimpong, who deemed the statement treasonable.

“I have stated it factual here that what Bryan said is a treasonable comment and we all need media houses to talk about it,” Frimpong declared during the interview. He warned of the dire consequences such remarks could have on the stability and democracy of the nation, asserting, “in any serious jurisdiction, Bryan Acheampong should be in jail and not be walking freely.”

Frimpong didn’t shy away from highlighting the pressing issues facing the country under the NPP government’s tenure. He lamented the lack of essential amenities and the skyrocketing prices of basic necessities, citing examples such as cement prices soaring from 28 cedis to 100 cedis. Frimpong emphasized the financial strain on citizens, noting their inability to afford fuel and the burdensome taxes imposed, including the controversial e-levy and taxes on sanitary pads.

“We as a country can’t boast of common basic amenities, and citizens can’t acquire basic needs,” Frimpong asserted, painting a grim picture of the economic hardships faced by ordinary Ghanaians.

In a passionate plea to the media and the public, Frimpong called for heightened scrutiny of government officials’ statements and actions. He urged media houses to amplify discussions surrounding Acheampong’s remarks and to hold accountable those who endanger the nation’s democracy.

As Frimpong’s impassioned words reverberated across the airwaves, the nation waits to see if his call to action will galvanize a response and if the NPP government will address the mounting concerns raised by the opposition.
