Taking over from Sauber, the Alfa Romeo name returns to Formula 1 for the first time since 1985. All of Alfa Romeo’s 10 wins came in the first two years of the Formula 1 championship – 1950 and 1951 – with Giuseppe Farina becoming the world champion in 1950 and Juan Manuel Fangio a year later.
For 2019 they have the most experienced driver in F1 in the form of 39-year-old Kimi Raikkonen, partnered by 25-year-old Italian Antonio Giovinazzi, who starts the season with only two grands prix to his name as he replaces Marcus Ericsson.

Turn Cathedral into

Lewis Hamilton: Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton will not decide whether to return to Formula 1 this season until he sees the results of an inquiry into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Hamilton is “disillusioned” with F1, his Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff has said, as a result of last year’s title-deciding race. Hamilton lost the championship to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen after FIA race director Michael Masi did not apply the rules correctly in a late safety-car period. Verstappen handed further
Max Verstappen has been handed a 10-second penalty for causing a Turn 27 collision with Lewis Hamilton in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, plus two penalty points. The title protagonists were embroiled in a bizarre incident on Lap 37 of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix when Verstappen, who was asked to return the lead to Hamilton having been deemed to gain an advantage going off track earlier at Turn 1, slowed to let his rival past. Hamilton beats Verstappen
Lewis Hamilton won a controversial debut Saudi Arabian Grand Prix from pole position ahead of Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas amid two red-flag stoppages. The result means the two championship protagonists go to the Abu Dhabi finale level on points. Hamilton led Bottas and Verstappen – who shrugged off his qualifying crash – at the start but on Lap 10, Mick Schumacher spun and hit the Turn 23 barriers.
