Benjamin Mendy, a former Manchester City footballer, has been found not guilty of raping a woman and attempting to rape another in a recent trial.

The 28-year-old was accused of attacking a 24-year-old woman at his luxurious £4m mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, in October 2020.

It should be noted that this trial came after Mr. Mendy was previously cleared of six rape charges in a January trial. However, the earlier jury failed to reach verdicts on two counts of rape and attempted rape, leading to a re-trial.

During the recent trial, Mr. Mendy claimed to have slept with over 10,000 women, while the prosecution, led by Benjamin Aina KC, alleged that he had taken advantage of female guests at parties hosted at his home due to his wealth and celebrity status, suggesting that he was unaccustomed to being denied.

Having recently seen his contract with Manchester City expire, Benjamin Mendy can now move forward after being acquitted of these serious charges.
