The East Legon Football Academy (ELFA) on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency John A. Kuffuor, the former president of Ghana.
The purpose of the visit was to seek the ex-president’s blessings and words of encouragement as the academy prepares for their upcoming trip to Hjorring, northern Denmark, to participate in the highly anticipated Dana Cup tournament.
The Dana Cup tournament, spanning ten days, is an esteemed soccer event that promises to serve as a stepping stone for the young players of ELFA. This visit to Denmark marks a significant milestone for the academy, providing a valuable opportunity for its aspiring athletes to gain exposure and experience in international competitions.
During the courtesy meeting, President Kuffuor warmly received the management and players of ELFA, expressing his delight at their visit and offering his unwavering support. Winston Yeboah Danso, the founder of ELFA, expressed his excitement about the forthcoming trip to Hjorring, describing it as a “giant, baby step” towards helping young players achieve their dreams of becoming professional athletes. Since its establishment in 2019, ELFA has been dedicated to providing after-school programs for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16. Through regular and advanced training sessions, the academy aims to identify hidden talents and nurture them into “rare gems” within the world of football.
During the courtesy visit, former President Kuffuor shared words of encouragement with the aspiring athletes, acknowledging the dedication and determination required to succeed in the realm of football. He emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement, imparting valuable advice to the young players.
