Adabraka Elders emerged victorious in the thrilling final of the Betwinner Accra West District Division Three Middle League, defeating Abor Arsenal with a resounding 4-0 scoreline at the Dansoman Carl Reindorf Park last Saturday.
Adabraka Elders dominated from the start, securing a two-goal advantage in the first half. Their opponents, Abor Arsenal, struggled to contain their attacking prowess as Elders continued to assert their dominance.
Richard Nai, the coach of Adabraka Elders, expressed his delight after the final whistle, highlighting the significance of their promotion to the Division 2 League.
“I am extremely happy, over the moon even. This victory comes after two previous attempts, and our aim now is to establish ourselves in Division 2. We will strengthen key areas of our game by bolstering the squad,” Nai said.
Captain Charles Nii Lante echoed the coach’s sentiments, emphasizing their ambition to maintain their position in Division 2 and even qualify for the middle league.
“We have a highly capable coach with a License A, so I believe that next season, we can aim to qualify for the middle league in Division 2. We have a young and talented squad,” Nii Lante added.
Fred Papoe, former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, presented the trophy to the victorious Adabraka Elders team and commended both clubs for their performance.
“It was an enthralling game. We witnessed young and raw talent displaying their skills with great commitment on the field. Congratulations to Adabraka Elders for emerging as champions, and better luck to Abor Arsenal, who put up a good fight. Overall, I must say the district football association has organized a wonderful competition from the very beginning, and the fans were remarkable,” Papoe said.
He also expressed his optimism about the future of Ghanaian football, praising the exceptional talent showcased by the young players and emphasizing the responsibility of sports administrators to nurture and develop such talents.
Farouk Zakari, Chairman of the Accra West District Football Association, lauded his team and the title sponsor, Betwinner, for their support throughout the tournament.
“I would like to express my gratitude to my executive committee members for organizing a successful tournament, and, most importantly, to our sponsor, Betwinner, for their financial support. We cannot do this alone, so I urge companies to invest in grassroots football. In the future, some of these players could go on to represent the Black Stars,” Zakari stated.
Betwinner, the title sponsor of the middle league, provided exciting prizes to fans who participated in their lucky dip draw. Lucky winners received prizes such as mobile phones, fans, kettles, flat-screen televisions, and other merchandise.
he Betwinner Accra West District Division Three Middle League was a four-day tournament featuring clubs such as Sea Eagles, Taking Over FC Kengid, King Legends, KM Sporting, and Accra Rockets.
Emmanuel Anabah emerged as the top scorer of the tournament, netting an impressive total of 20 goals.
