Wasiru Mohammed promises to sacrifice Emmanuel Otoo August 19

Former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Global super bantamweight champion, Wasiru “Gyatabi” Mohammed, is billed to make his long-awaited ring return next against Emmanuel Otoo in a featherweight contest on August 19.

The undefeated Mohammed will fight on the undercard of the ‘Adinkrahene fight’ bill being staged by Silver Black Promotions at the Lord’s Wembley Plus in Shukura, Accra.

Mohammed (12-0, 11 KOs) has been out of the ring for over three years now following a misunderstanding between him and his handlers — a development which cost him his title due to inactivity.

Having decided to bounce back, Mohammed is training with Paul Dogboe, former trainer of Isaac Dogboe, who guided his son to a WBO super bantamweight title in 2018.

In an interview with Graphic Sports, Mohammed said he was ready to announce his comeback in the ring with an emphatic victory over Otoo.

“I am very focused and can’t wait to enter the ring next month. Everyone wants to see Wasiru in the ring so I will do everything to win.

“It is going to be an emotional night for me, having been out of the ring for a very long time, but the most important thing is to get off to a bright start,” he noted.

Mohammed last destroyed Beninese Ghislain Vodounhessi in seven rounds to defend his WBO Global title in January 2020.
