Potential investors don’t understand the music industry -Stonebwoy

Multiple Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy has explained that Ghana’s music industry is not getting the needed financial backing since potential investors lack understanding of how the industry runs.

Speaking on a Twitter(X) Spaces  discussion on Thursday, August 24, and hosted by Berla Mundi, the 2015 VGMA Artiste of the Year said the possible investors who are always around musicians don’t see the potential to invest in their craft.

Stonebwoy disclosed that their interest seems to be on the women they work when they (musicians) only have professional relationships with them.

“The big men you see around us are mostly for the fun of it. The music business is not convincing enough for them to put their money into the business. Some of them don’t have an idea or understand our industry.

“When they meet you, they will just be talking about women but the women are mostly those we used in our videos, we don’t even know them personally,” he said.

During the conversation, Stonebwoy also appealed to Ghanaians and their fans to be patient on their expectations of them to match up to the international exploits of their Nigerian counterparts since the desired results will only be achieved if the right steps are taken.

“I don’t see pressure. What I see is awareness. By that, we all have to go to the drawing board and check what makes it happen. The pressure doesn’t make anything happen; it doesn’t solve anything.

“I see that pressure as beautiful to see Ghana represent Africa at the highest level. I think it is a good pressure, either than that, for me it’s no pressure.

“Until we achieve what we want to achieve, we can pressure ourselves as much as we want; if we apply the pressure in the wrong direction, then we will not get any answer. But if we do apply that pressure in the right direction, then we will be achieving what we want to get and be happy,” he stated.
