GBF board member pledges special bonus for Ghana’s Olympic-bound boxers

A member of the executive board of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), representing the logistics and freight forwarding company Freight Consult, Alhaji Abdulai Issaka Pangasur has pledged a special bonus to the national amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers, should they secure qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

This commitment was made during a presentation on Monday, where Pangasur provided the national male and female boxing teams with two sets of branded apparel, as well as food and beverages. This support comes as the team concluded their preparations for the Africa Olympic qualifiers in Dakar, Senegal.

Departing last Wednesday to compete for 18 available slots for Africa at next year’s Olympic Games in Paris, the 12 Black Bombers comprising seven male and five female boxers are expected to represent Ghana in Senegal.

The Black Bombers contingent comprises; Theophilus Allotey, Abdul Wahid Omar, Joseph Commey, Alfred Kotey, Seth Gyimah alias Freezy Macbones, Jonathan Tetteh and David Bawah Akankolin as well as the female contingent; Janet Acquah, Ramatu Quaye, Anatu Mohammed, Sarah Apew and Ornella Sathoud.

Pangasur believes that this donation may serve as an additional source of motivation for the boxers to achieve victory in Senegal.

Mr. Ibrahim Issaka, the younger brother of Alhaji Pangasur who made the presentation, stated, “We are here to reaffirm our unwavering support for the team, we believe in you and this is a little way we can help push you to deliver your best for Ghana.”

He went on to share that if the team secures victory in Senegal and qualifies for the Olympic Games, Freight Consult will provide an even more substantial package. He concluded with well wishes for their competition in Senegal, encouraging them to make Ghana proud.

This isn’t the first time Mr. Pangasur has shown his support for the Black Bombers. In a similar gesture, he made a donation to the team prior to last year’s Commonwealth Games, where they ultimately secured two silver and one bronze medal.

The GBF President Bernard Quartey expressed his gratitude to Alhaji Pangasur, acknowledging his consistent financial support to the national team’s boxers and coaches since he joined them. He urged the Black Bombers   to join him in extending their thanks for Pangasur’s generous gesture.
