Ghanaian boxer Seth Gyimah aka Freezy Macbones defeated in Olympic qualifier

Seth Gyimah, widely known as Freezy Macbones, faced a tough challenge against Senegal’s Seydou Konate in a qualification match for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

The UK-based boxer, who had earlier showcased his skills, earning him an invitation to represent Ghana, grappled in a middleweight (80kg) Round of 32 clash in Dakar, Senegal. Unfortunately, he fell short against his formidable opponent, dealing a significant blow to his aspirations of donning Ghana’s colors at the forthcoming Olympic Games. The judges ruled the tie 4-0 in favour of the Senegalese.

Gyimah’s customary power punches failed to make the desired impact against his opponent, as Konate skillfully employed a defensive strategy, ultimately securing the crucial victory.

Despite this setback, Freezy MacBones still retains an opportunity to stage a comeback in the playoffs. Here, he may face contenders from various continents, vying for a chance to compete in Paris 2024.
