Sheffield United is contemplating the prospect of recruiting the seasoned Ghanaian captain, Andre Ayew, on a free transfer.

Following their promotion last season, the Blades have returned to the English Premier League. However, their reintroduction has proven challenging, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side amassing just one point from four matches – secured in a 2-2 draw against Everton in their most recent outing.

Despite their best efforts, the Blades appear to be lacking the necessary quality and seasoned expertise required to thrive in the Premier League.

Hence, Heckingbottom is mulling over the potential acquisition of the 33-year-old Ghanaian forward, who boasts an impressive 114 international caps, to inject a dose of craft and experience into Bramall Lane.

Ayew, a free agent since departing Nottingham Forest at the conclusion of the previous season, had a brief stint at the City Ground following his departure from Qatari outfit Al Sadd. 

Despite making 13 appearances in the latter part of the season, manager Steve Cooper opted against extending his contract, allowing the prolific forward with 152 career goals to explore the open market.

Eager to return to action at the earliest opportunity, Ayew is now seeking new opportunities. Due to his free agency status, he is not bound by transfer window restrictions, and clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey have expressed interest in securing his services.

Nonetheless, it has come to our attention that Sheffield United is contemplating extending a short-term deal to the veteran striker, in the hopes that he may play a pivotal role in their pursuit of Premier League survival.
