Popular Ghanaian actor and politician, John Dumelo, walked backwards barefooted from Legon Mall, which is opposite the University of Ghana(UG) to Presbyterian Boys Senior High (PRESEC), yesterday.

This walk was in fulfillment of a promise he made toward the grand finale of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2023.

The grand finale of the annual educational contest between senior high schools, NSMQ, took place on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the National Theater in Accra. The contest was between Presbyterian Boys Senior High (PRESEC LEGON), Achimota School, and Opoku Ware School.

To show his support for Achimota School, John Dumelo stated on social media platforms a few days before the contest,
“I am a proud Achimotan, but if Presec wins the NSMQ 2023 on the 31st, I will walk barefoot backwards from Ayawaso West Wuogon to Presec School! They can’t win over Motown! Presec? Tweeeaa!”

At the end of the contest, Presec LEGON was crowned the winners of the competition after grabbing 40 points after the final round, while Achimota School and Opoku Ware School had 28 and 23 points, respectively.

Many comments were made by netizens right after the contest, suggesting that the iconic actor should follow through on his words and walk backwards and barefoot from Ayawaso West to the Presec Legon campus.

Mr. Dumelo congratulated Presec Legon after the contest, adding that he would fulfill his promise.
“I am a man of my word. I will be walking backwards barefoot from the UG main gate to Presec main gate tomorrow, October 31st, at 4 pm,” he shared on social media.

The politician fulfilled his promise by walking backwards and barefoot from Ayawaso West to Presec LEGON on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

He also presented eight crates of fresh eggs from his farm to the Headmaster and the NSMQ winners.
