Manchester Utd’s Maguire accepts apology from Ghanaian MP Adongo, extends invite to Old Trafford

Manchester United and England defender, Harry Maguire, has acknowledged an apology from Ghanaian legislator Isaac Adongo.

This comes after Adongo, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency in the Upper East Region retracted his earlier comparison between Maguire and Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In December of the previous year, Adongo had criticized the Vice President, drawing parallels with the Manchester United defender, who was then facing significant scrutiny from fans for his below-par performances, including some unfortunate own goals.

However, during debates over the 2024 Budget on Friday in Parliament, Isaac Adongo offered an apology to the English defender.

Adongo acknowledged Maguire’s improved form but juxtaposed it with his critique of Vice President Bawumia’s management of the country’s economy, which, according to Adongo, necessitated a $3 billion bailout from the IMF.

In an unexpected turn of events, the much-maligned footballer took to the X platform, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that he has accepted the apology from the Ghanaian lawmaker and looks forward to seeing him at Old Trafford soon.
