South Birim Rural Bank assists customers

The South Birim Rural Bank in the Eastern Region in 2022 granted loans totalling GH¢16.5 million to its customers for the expansion of their  businesses compared with the GH¢14.6 million it gave out in 2021.

During the same period, the bank declared net profit of GH¢1.7 million as against the GH¢1.4 million it made in 2021, representing an increase of 51 per cent while its total income recorded an increase of GH¢2.9 million, from GH¢10 million in 2022 to GH¢12.9 million in 2022.

The Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the bank, Bernadette Addo-Dankwa, announced this at the bank’s 38th annual general meeting held at its headquarters at Akyem Achiase last Saturday.

She said in 2022, the bank recorded a total of 105,697 electronic transactions with total value of GH¢ 504,450,762.89.

Beneficiaries

According to Mrs Addo-Dankwa, in 2022, the bank disbursed an amount of GH¢1.9 million to 3,980 LEAP beneficiaries from Birim Central Municipality, Birim North and Achiase districts.

She commended the management, staff and shareholders for their hard work, as well as her colleague directors for their sacrifices, time, efforts and expertise that contributed to the success of the bank and urged them to sustain the spirit.

In an address read by Nana Frimpong Asare, the Eastern Regional Manager of the ARB Apex Bank, on behalf of the Managing Director of the Bank, Mr Alex Kwasi Awuah, he was full of praise for the bank for being one of the best in the country.

He stressed that the laudable results were achieved with the support and cooperation of the shareholders and through the hard work and tireless efforts of the board, management and staff of the bank.

Mr Awuah admonished them to continue to work assiduously and with determination since that was the surest way to create a viable and sustainable value for shareholders of the bank.

Praises 

He further praised the bank for spending GH¢11,190 on various community development initiatives, stressing that corporate social responsibility initiatives helped in enhancing the relationship between members of the communities and the bank.

Other speakers at the ceremony included the Chief of Akyem Achiase, Daasebre Gyenin Kantan, and the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, Ms Victoria Adu.
