Nigerian Actor and Comedian Mr. Ibu Passes Away at 60

Renowned Nigerian actor and comedian, John Ikechukwu Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu, has passed away at the age of 60. The veteran entertainer, whose real name was John Okarfor, breathed his last at Evercare Hospital on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Mr. Ibu, who appeared in over 200 Nollywood films, including the popular Mr. Ibu series, had been battling illness for some time.

Since last year, Mr. Ibu had been undergoing medical treatment, including multiple surgeries, in his quest for recovery. Sadly, his family revealed that he underwent amputation of his leg in November.

Mr. Ibu’s journey in the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, was marked by numerous memorable performances that endeared him to audiences both locally and internationally. With his unique style and infectious humor, he became a household name, capturing the hearts of fans across generations.

Some of his notable movies include “A Fool At 40,” “Police Recruit,” “Mr. Ibu in London,” and “Issakaba.”
